35-product WooCommerce store where customers configure and buy bifold doors online, with every option priced

    The Situation

Bifold doors are normally sold by quote. A customer measures up, sends an enquiry and waits for a price, and most glazing websites are built to collect that enquiry and nothing more.

Alulux wanted to sell the way their customers already shop for everything else: choose it, set it up, see the price and buy it. That meant a store that could handle doors with real options, such as opening direction, colour, blinds, glazing and installation, not a brochure site with a contact form.

“We wanted customers to be able to price and buy a set of bifolds online without waiting on a quote from us. Nera built a store that does exactly that. Every option is on the product page, the price is clear, and orders come through with everything we need.”

    Ben Harrison - Director

    The Brief

Alulux design, engineer and build aluminium bifold doors, sliding doors, windows and rooflights in-house in Kent. A bifold door is usually bought through a quote: measure up, send an enquiry, wait for a price. Alulux wanted customers to be able to choose a door, configure it and buy it online, with the price on the page.

    What We Built

A WooCommerce store that sells made-to-order glazing the way other shops sell off-the-shelf products. Each system has its own product page with a clear price including VAT, and the customer builds their order from the options that matter. This is the kind of project our WooCommerce development service is built around.

    • A catalogue of 35 products across bifold doors, sliding doors, windows, rooflights, roof lanterns and fly screens, 34 of them configurable.
    • Product pages where the customer picks the opening direction, the frame colour, integrated blinds and double or triple glazing, and sees the price change as they go.
    • Supply only or supply and fit chosen on the product page, with installation added to the order as a priced option.
    • Add-ons such as a matching fly screen offered at the point of purchase, not left for a follow-up call.

    Selling A Considered Purchase Online

Nobody buys a set of bifold doors on impulse. The store had to answer the questions a customer would normally ask a salesperson, so the product pages carry the sizes, the panel layouts and the rules that matter, such as triple glazing not being available with integrated blinds.

    • Side-by-side ranges, from the standard T series to the PAS 24 compliant range, so customers can compare systems before they choose.
    • An installation guide, a gallery and completed project pages that show the doors in real homes.
    • Prices shown including VAT throughout, with promotions and discount codes run from the store itself.

Built For The Team To Run

The Alulux team manage the catalogue, prices and offers themselves. New sizes and systems are added as products, sale prices are set in the store, and orders arrive with every option the customer chose attached.
